Welcome to BLUMING ROOTS
Our goal is to share our love of nature by creating free flowing, seasonal handcrafted flower bouquets that are filled with charm, minimalistic structure and natural grace, just for you.
As I kid I always dreamt of living on a farm with an abundance of animals, fields of flowers and rows of colorful veggies. My grandma Muzz and her garden had a substantial influence on my life. She and her garden were a great source of inspiration for me and sparked my curiosity for all things green.
Eventually, we moved to Alberta, and continued to develop a deep connection to nature. We were always outside.
In 2008, my husband and 2 kids left Medicine Hat and moved to a small farm in Cypress County. We had hopes of pursuing a life that was simpler and to be able to connect more with nature. We wanted to align our values and our love of animals and the land, with our lifestyle.
We’ve done just that! In the past we’ve raised sheep and I have tried my hand at furniture design. I previously designed colorful wooden chair planters with delightful flower arrangements inside, original décor items and unique furniture made from refurbished wood. All pieces were one of a kind and let me explore my creativity.
I have spent the last decade gardening and formally educating myself in horticulture, in preparation of cultivating on a larger scale. The transition from being a gardener to growing cut flowers on a large scale has been an exciting one! This is where my passion now lies.
I feel most at home when my hands are immersed deep in the earth, the soil surrounding my fingers. There is something magical that happens when I feel grounded in the earth this way. Taking time to grow and nurture tiny little seeds into stunning blossoms is so much fun and ultimately satisfying for me. Nature is my happy place and fills my soul with bliss. Our farm is a labour of love and we want to share its abundance with you!
Flowers can lift someone’s spirits, make them smile and create happiness. They bring joy and have meaning for people. Bringing sunshine to anyone’s day is something we want to be a part of.
Our goal is to share our love of nature by creating free-flowing, seasonal handcrafted flower bouquets that are filled with charm, minimalistic structure and natural grace, just for you.
From our farm to your arms.
Thank you for being here!
More About BLUMING ROOTS and What We Offer
Bluming Roots Bouquet / Blume Bucket Subscriptions (CSAs)
We are so excited to be able to provide Medicine Hat and surrounding areas with bouquets of gorgeous, farm fresh locally grown seasonal blooms this year!
Please read our CSA FAQs and Terms of Service at the bottom of this page before signing up!
Here’s what we are offering in 2020
(see below and please note bouquet photos are *examples* of CSA bouquets, and each bouquet will vary depending on seasonal blooms).
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. As defined by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry https://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$department/deptdocs.nsf/all/agdex14033
“Community Supported Agriculture or Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) is a community of individuals or families who support a chosen farm and its family. Each individual or family purchases, in advance, a share, called a subscription, of the years’ crop. Thus, the customers become virtual partners or ‘co-producers’ in the farm, sharing risk and reward with the farm family. Throughout the growing season, each week subscribing member receives equal shares of the freshly harvested food from the farmer.”
Bluming Roots CSAs are weekly bouquets created with local, seasonal, and organically grown blooms. By purchasing a CSA share with us, you’re supporting our farm, and you’re also helping to grow a healthy, eco-friendly local flower industry.
Where and when do I pick up my flowers?
2020 CSAs are delivered Tuesdays (within Medicine Hat, Dunmore and Redcliff) of course other areas just contact me and we can set something up or may be picked up Saturdays at the Medicine Hat Farmers Market https://www.facebook.com/MedicineHatFarmersMarket
Can I request a specific time for delivery?
Because of the number of CSAs we deliver, and the range of addresses we deliver to, we cannot accommodate specific delivery time requests. Most bouquets are delivered between 10 AM and 5 PM.
Can I request delivery if I can’t pick up my flowers?
Fees for delivered CSAs are paid at the beginning of our season, and at this time we can’t offer pick up/delivery “switches” mid-season. CSAs must be either picked up for the duration of the subscription, or delivered for the duration of the subscription. The reason being, it is simply too much to coordinate while we’re at our busiest.
What if I can’t pick up my flowers?
If you’re unable to pick up your bouquet, we recommend you ask someone else to pick them up for you. If no-one can pick them up, let us know and they will be donated to someone in need.
What if I go on vacation?
If you take a holiday during the summer, as many do, we ask that you arrange for someone else to pick up your blooms while you’re away. Or if you rather donate your bouquet, let us now if your blooms are being delivered, at least 1 week before you go, and give us an alternate address within Medicine Hat, Dunmore and Redcliff city limits we can deliver to.
Can I specify which flowers I want in my weekly bouquet?
At this time, we do not do custom or special requests for subscriptions. We create each bouquet according to what is seasonal and available, which is part of the fun of a CSA subscription; each week is something new!
Can I buy a CSA Membership for someone else as a gift?
Absolutely! As long as they have read and agree to our Terms of Service. Simply register with their information, and let us know it’s a gift in the registration form.
Can I cancel my CSA Membership and refund my money?
We rely on our CSA Memberships for revenue to keep our farm running and our blooms blooming, however, we also understand that life can be goofy sometimes with moves, job changes, etc. For our 2020 subscriptions, refunds will be available up to one week after the purchase of your CSA.
Becoming a CSA member means supporting a farm that is at the mercy of unpredictable weather, pests, and plagues, and your shares are vital to our survival. We ask that rather than cancelling, you consider gifting/selling/transferring your membership to someone who will appreciate weekly flowers from a natural, local grower.
And finally, if any CSA Member’s behaviour towards our owner or staff is deemed abusive or inappropriate, their CSA Membership will be cancelled without refund.
Can I make a special order?
We create beautiful mixed bouquets based on what we have available, and offer them through CSAs and have them available for purchase at the Medicine Hat Farmers Market https://www.facebook.com/MedicineHatFarmersMarket/
Send us an email and we can see what we can do!!
